Blender Screw Modifier vs Spin Tool: A Quick Guide

Blender Screw Modifier vs Spin Tool: A Quick Guide

Hello, Blender newbies!

Today, I will explain the ‘Screw Modifier’ and the ‘Spin Tool.’

First, let’s start with the Screw Modifier

Step 1:
Press Shift + A to open the Add menu.
Select Mesh > Single Vert > Add Single Vert.

Step 2:
In vertex mode, from the front view, extrude the vertex to create your desired shape.

Step 3:
Add the “Screw Modifier”.
In the modifier settings, check the ‘Flip’ option under ‘Normal.’
Adjust the ‘Steps’ in the Viewport as needed.

Now, let’s learn how to use the Spin Tool.

Step 1:
Duplicate the shape and delete the ‘Screw Modifier’.

Step 2:
In edit mode, press the 7 on the numpad to switch to the top view.

Step 3:
Press ‘Alt + E’ and choose ‘Spin’.
In this menu, you can also adjust the number of ‘Steps’.

Conclusion:

In my opinion, the ‘Screw Modifier’ is more advantageous than the ‘Spin Tool’

because it allows us to modify values in the screw modifier properties anytime we need.

Unfortunately, once you’ve used the ‘Spin Tool’, you cannot adjust those values afterwards.
