I would like to share information about Telugu what I know.

The Telugu language is one of the belonged languages of the Dravidian family. There are many languages which belong to Dravidian. Some of them are Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada et cetera. “Ancient Language” status has been given to the Telugu, Sanskrit, Tamil and Kannada in 2008 by the government of India.

How did the “Telugu” name or word come?

Many
arguments are there regarding how the Telugu name has come. Despite having
known about it, I too don’t know how the Telugu name has come or formed
exactly. Just, I am writing here what I have heard. The “Telugu” has formed
from names of three temples of Lord Shiva which are in two Telugu states. Lord
Shiva temples, Kaleshwaram in Karimnagar in Telangana state, Srisailam in
Kurnool and Bhimavaram in West Godavari in Andhra Pradesh state, played key role
in forming of the Telugu name or word.

The place was called “Thrilinga” which was between the three temples. One of the arguments regarding the formation of forming Telugu word is Telinga, Telungu and Telugu words have come from “Thrilinga” word.

This is the information what I have known about the formation of Telugu word or name. I request you (readers) if you know how the “Telugu” word or name has formed, please tell about it through the comment box.

According to
an estimation of linguistics, 2,400 years ago, the Telugu language was
separated from the Dravidian language and it formed as an individual language.

Know about the Telugu Script:

Despite having come from the Dravidian language, all south India languages scripts have come from the ancient Brahmi script. Satavahana kings, subordinates of the Mourya kingdom’s emperor Asoka, brought the Brahmi script to south India.

Mourya’s
Brahmi script related letters, on the inscription of Buddhist stupa at
Bhattiprolu in Guntur, were identified. According to an estimation of
researchers, in the A.D. fifth century, the old Telugu script came from the
Bhattiprolu script.

Every Telugu person should be proud to be a Telugu person:

Our Telugu language has got second place in worldwide in the best scripts of the whole world’s languages. Korea’s script is in top position.

What are the main Slangs in the Telugu?:

There are three main slangs in the Telugu language. They are Telangana, Andhra and Rayalaseema. According to the 2011 survey, Telugu is the third large number of people spoken language in India. Hindi and Bengali languages are in the top and second positions. Moreover, Telugu is in the fifteenth position in spoken languages worldwide. We find Telugu spoken people worldwide wherever we go and see.

Read Also:

Telugu Basha Charitra in Telugu

Telugu, official language and mother tongue of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, is one of the Dravidian languages.
